Following the Entercom–CBS Radio merger closing, the broadcaster’s first move was to flip CHR WBMP (AMP 92.3)/New York to Modern Rock as ALT 92.3 It is the first Modern Rocker in the Big Apple since 101.9 RXP flipped formats back in 2011. Of course, the 92.3 frequency was the home of K-ROCK/New York for many years.
“In a city where alternative music is a way of life, we are thrilled to finally fill the void in radio in New York City,” said Pat Paxton, Entercom’s President of Programming. “With the launch of ALT 92.3, we will cater to the passionate audience who have helped define the genre for decades – and we couldn’t be more excited to turn up the volume.”
You can check out ALT 92.3 now at alt923radio.com. The station launched at 10 am ET with Foo Fighters‘ “My Hero” and will play 10,000 songs in a row commercial-free to kick it all off.
